The Monetary Savings of Ending Long-Term Homelessness
By helping individuals with mental illness and chemical dependency move toward independent living, Cabrini Partnership supports its residents’ progress toward self-reliance. Investing in Cabrini Partnership housing and services saves the public and our community money.
CABRINI PARTNERSHIP IS A SIGNIFICANTLY MORE COST EFFECTIVE INVESTMENT COMPARED WITH EMERGENCY OR CRISIS SERVICES.

*Hospital and treatment costs based on data from the Governor’s Health Cabinet & available at minnesotahealthinfo.org. Data is based on the average of daily cost for services in hospitals in Hennepin County.
For example, 83% of the individuals in the Cabrini Partnership Housing First Program—all of whom come directly from the streets or emergency shelters—have reduced their use of emergency room and/or hospital detoxification services.

Cabrini Partnership is proud of its numbers that measure results.
But numbers don’t tell the whole story. Mattie has radically changed her life in the five years since she first walked through our doors. Homeless and estranged from her daughter, she had nearly given up hope. Today, Mattie lives in one of our permanent supportive housing apartments. After graduating from Twin Cities RISE, she quickly found a job with a temporary agency. She wanted a better paying job, so she got a license as an electrical machine operator. Now she has a full-time job that pays a good wage. Her job is never boring, and when it’s challenging, her outlook is, “I don’t let problems get me down. I’m busy looking for solutions.” That positive spirit, and spending time with her daughter and two beautiful granddaughters, illustrates that with hope and dignity restored, lives can be transformed.
Cabrini Partnership is cost-effective for individuals and the community. Simply put, Cabrini Partnership is saving money and saving lives. |
